Figuring Finished Length on Custom Coverlets: (simply SKIP this post if you are NOT a Decorator or Designer)
ONLY for Decorators and Designers, from Margo 12-1-09
This blog is for ALL entrepreneurs and business people. However, I do train a lot of decorators, so the ONLY for DECORATORS and DECORATORS posts can be skipped over if you are in a different industry.
Finished Length on Custom Bed Coverings:
If you want to add a pillow tuck to a custom bed covering, you add the pillow tuck measurement to the finished length of the cover.
Therefore, your finished length would be equal to the measurement from the top of the mattress to the bottom of the mattress (head to foot), PLUS one drop (the depth of the mattress at the foot, plus a few extra inches to make sure the mattress will not show) PLUS the pillow tuck (usually 20 inches for the pillow tuck).
When figuring finished width, you add together the mattress width, and then add two side drops, one for the left side and one for the right side. Again, allow a few extra inches so the mattress does not show.
