Success, Faking It, and Giving: We All Need a Big Mindset Shift!
Let us not be satisfied with just giving money. Money is not enough, money can be got, but they need your hearts to love them. So, spread your love everywhere you go. ~Mother Teresa
I think we all need a BIG mindset shift. Lately I heard some business professionals discussing the “rightness” of the “fake it until you make it” philosophy, and a lot of talk went back and forth about who was really being authentic online and in business communications and business settings–who really “made it” and who was just acting as though they did? Well, I have something to say about that!
We simply do not need to be concerned with those who “fake it to make it”! We shouldn’t be looking at that or analyzing it, AND, we ourselves don’t have to have that “fake it to make it” mentality either.
The shift we need is about each of us looking at ourselves and OUR individual lives, and seeing what WE are. The shift is about each of us being fully ourselves, regardless of what others do. Why would we need to decide on the “rightness” or “wrongness” of anyone else’s actions unless we were planning on comparing ourselves to them?
We MUST each begin to be fully ourselves, everyday, in every way! Each of us has a unique voice and gifts to offer others in our life and work. We need to find our voice and contribute it meaningfully and powerfully! No faking that!
The whole idea of success is skewed. There’s too much of a focus on money as the main motivator. Of course money is important. We need it to live and to fund the personal and business activities that are important to us. But we also need to re-align with what success really is.
Success is about living a life of fullness and joy, and investing in the lives of others. It’s about giving and helping. We can do that even if we were flat broke! At the very least we should daily experience success by being ourselves and being givers no matter where we’re at financially. Then, as we attract more money into our lives because we are givers, we will have even more with which to give and help others.
As business owners we need to decide: are we going to continue in business or quit because we are not yet making “enough” money? If you personally decide to continue, then USE YOUR VOICE AND CONTRIBUTE POSITIVELY TOWARDS OTHERS EVERDAY IN YOUR LIFE AND WORK! Focus on the human component and being fully yourself. At your core you are a GIVER, and that’s not just about money!
Bottom line: No need to “pretend” you are successful if you are being you and giving of yourselves towards others, regardless of the money, because being you and being a giver IS success! Incidentally, this is the mindset it actually takes to make the powerful connections that bring you greater income.
Be you and be it full throttle. Use your one of a kind voice to encourage and empower others. Live every day and every moment with vigor, knowing that success is a lifestyle. The money will follow if you drive your business from this path!
Re-align with what success really is. Stop looking at what others do. Don’t concern yourself with whether or not they are authentic. YOU be authentic, and in that you are already a success!
