I want to talk to you ladies for a bit (O.K. men, you can read it too)!

Aren’t we TIRED yet? Aren’t we so freaking tired of taking ourselves too seriously, of getting on our soap boxes, of judging the world and putting everyone else straight?

Can’t we just be ourselves and have some FUN for crying out loud (and crying in the bathroom at the restaurant, and crying while our partner is trying to fall asleep, and crying as we make eggs in the morning because deep down we are simply miserable)?

Time to Loosen Up Ladies!

FUN!  It’s the meds of life!  FUN! It’s the icing on the cake we think we are not supposed to  have!  FUN! FUN FUN!

NO, I don’t mean you have to rent a convertible and hike your skirt up several inches (although that might be a possibility if that’s your thing), but you can start with not taking yourself so seriously!

You can start with not thinking EVERYTHNG falls on YOUR shoulders, or not insisting that you have to take care of it ALL!  You can start by loosening your grip, unscrewing your mental tension-rod, and taking a breath of fresh air for once. You can have some fun by letting your beautiful hair down for cripes sake (and there’s no excuses—short hair can be fluffed)!

DECIDE!

When was the last time you DECIDED to be TRULY happy for someone else? Huh? Try it. It is all part of not taking yourself too seriously. OH, what’s that? You CAN’T do that?

Do you REALLY want to let go of the heavy burdens, or not? Do you REALLY want to lighten up and be happy instead of PRETENDING to be happy while your misery drips around inside your brain? Of course you do. So just do it!

Today I posted on the blog of a competitor. Her post was good–really good, so I told her and her online world that I thought so. I did not hold back. I gave her a thumbs up because she deserved it. I know there are many other great peeps and business owners out there. I can enjoy them and it won’t hurt me one bit. It will actually help me!

I recently tweeted about something hilarious someone said online. It was a woman who is doing a project that is very similar to a project I am working on. So stinking what! So WHAT! She was hilarious, and I LOVED it. She said something so great and so funny, so I shared it. I love this lady. She is talented and she has a message for others. Who am I to stop up the flow of  goodness? The more goodness the merrier, I say!

Don’t take YOU too seriously. LAUGH! SHARE! Be HAPPY for OTHERS!

There is SOOOOOOOOO much pie to go around, so much so that all of us (competitors, rivals, siblings, enemies and all) could sit in a room together and share pie after pie after pie as we become loving friends and laugh at each other’s jokes, and there would still be enough pie for many, many more peeps. So lighten up! It’s O.K. to be really happy for the success of other pie-eating maniacs like yourself.

What Else?

Do MORE of what you love. Do less of what you despise and dread. Do something you used to do but haven’t done in a long while. Do whatever the heck you feel like doing for one day, or one hour. Jump in the tub with your clothes on, or when everyone leaves the house, jump naked into the living room and do some Jumba. Just get OVER YOURSELF!

Do something wonderful for someone else that you don’t feel THE LEAST bit obligated to do, and do it with no strings. Do something that makes you laugh or fills your heart with total joy. Do something just because you can!

This is IT!

THIS, THIS, THIS is the life!

This is THE life!

This is the LIFE!

This is the ONE life you get that you KNOW for SURE that you get.

Don’t waste it being an uptight, unhappy critical person who wishes she were not that way.

We ALL Have Moments!

HEY! There are times when every one of us is tempted to be ugly, unhappy, jealous, competitive, uptight, controlling, mean, whatever. So didly what? SO WHAT? You just don’t have to make a life out of it!

Temptation is one thing. INTENTION is another. As soon as that ugly thought comes, align with what you really want for your life. Align with a better intention, an intention to be happy yourself and happy for others, no matter what!

Lighten up! Give it up. Have some FUN. Let go of control so you can really ENJOY!

Now go have a belly laugh or at the very least, one less headache or ulcer, and remember, LAUGHTER is the medicine of life!

I love ya!

Margo

  1. Hi Margo, I love it, love it, love it….To tell you the truth I was already laughing just by reading the title…see how great is that? You are so right. Time goes by quickly enough…a second passed is a second that we’ll never get to experience again, so might as well be a laughing one. And true, what’s wrong with us women, why do we always have to carry everything on our shoulders like if we were the only one who could do it! That part is for me…but I’m working on it. Gina, you are right, we have that much power, we can decide. And I decide to laugh as much as I can (even if I get many wrinkles….LOL)

    • Awesome Christine! 50 is the new “time to take my life back”!

I am so grateful us women can ricochet our laughs off one another. We women do have fun when we get together, don’t we?

Really life is about enjoyment–joy, and love. If our jobs and our responsibilities have us living in resentment and unhappiness then what are we doing? Life has enough “surprises” for that.

Our part is to be fully alive, and as you said, “laugh as much as I can”!

      Thanks for sharing,

      Margo

This is awesome! Competition is not a good look for women. Team play is. It’s fun, it’s building and it makes sense. There are a LOT of humans on planet earth. We all need role models, assistance, tools, coaches, teams. We aren’t gonna click with everyone. So thank goodness there are other women out there that’ll be a better fit. Yay for the human team!!! And good for you for enjoying yourself!!!

    • I like that a lot Syndee, that’s a good way to look at it, that we are “teams”!

We can be good to everyone but like you mentioned, there are those we really click with.

For me going forward collaboration and supporting the success of others is my mantra. I have nothing to gain that I need to keep all to myself!

As I often say, Giving is the New Getting!

Thanks for reading and for sharing your thoughts. I Love it!

  3. Awesome fun piece. My favorite part was this: (and there’s no excuses—short hair can be fluffed)!

I appreciate seeing your beautiful personality in play.

  4. I loved this!!! Here was one of my favorite lines: “(and there’s no excuses—short hair can be fluffed)!”

Mostly what I liked is that you make it so fun because you’re not afraid to be yourself.

Recently, I learned that a former mentor of mine had died. She was amazing and would have been clapping for you all the time she was reading this piece. She wrote that life was all about the 4 F’s. Food, friends, family, and FUN!!

    Go you! Jennifer

    • Hey Jennifer!

      Your words make me smile.

Isn’t life all about BEING ALIVE? Yet so often we “muck it up”.

Your friend obviously knew about being alive.

Those 4 things matter so much and they go together like birds of a feather.

I love to cook and entertain–have my friends and family over, eat good food, laugh and share. That is really the heart of life.

We need to take an all girls “Life After Tampons Trip of Splendor”! I’ll drive, and you chart the course, LOL! You bring the sass, and we’ll get the others to bring the mojo, the moxi, and the rebel spirit!

Time to have nothing but love, joy, and fun!

Don’t we women just LOVE to take care of everything … except we forget about ourselves. Frankly, I was exhausted trying to do it all, thinking that it all rested on my shoulders. Seriously, my family just needed to show up, everything was taken care of. So I gave it up and I can’t tell you how LIBERATED I feel!

You know how people set a word-theme for their upcoming year? Well, I have one, but I also have a “feel theme” for the year … FUN! I’m saying yes to it all … and for me that includes mountain drives in my Firebird with the t-tops out.

I feel like I’ve just been given a pep talk … oh, it was! Thanks Margo. :)

    • …and I got a pep-talk in return! Thanks Miki!

I think I’ll hop right into that Firebird with you. We can pick up a few more chicks on the way! Turn the radio up and let the hair fly all around.

I love that you have not only a word but a “feel theme”. That cracks me up! I’ll give some thought to what my “feel theme” will be!

Years ago the Movie Jerry McGuire came out, and everyone went on and on about the phrase, “you complete me”. I just couldn’t relate. My favorite line was, “I am incapable of bull ____”!

The lesson is that life is too short to embrace anything but truth, love, fun, enjoyment, honesty, and courage. Sure, things are gonna’ happen, but why add to it when we don’t have to?

Hey, on our ride into the mountains, can we stop off at the store and get some Perrier? I need a little fizzy with my Led Zeppelin!

      Hugs,

This is fantastic Margo! One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that – happiness isn’t a destination, it’s a choice we make every moment of every day. And second to that is… my happiness is – well, it’s mine – and cannot be determined, defined or dictated by anyone else. And the days when I find myself feeling unhappy… I own that and can flip my perspective in an instant. It’s SO empowering. xo
Gina Bell recently posted..What’s Your Best Online Visibility Tip?My Profile

    • YES YES! It IS empowering. We are not slaves to someone else’s idea of success.

What a relief to just live the life YOU want–to STOP comparing yourself. To not care (in a good way) what others have or think, or anything!

The “comparison” trap has ruined, no, DESTROYED, so many lives, but now the “be who YOU are without apology” experience will bring life and joy back to so many people.

I think you are a Rebel in white Gina! YOUR life lessons (just like you shared above) always help someone else. Did you ever think that being a Rebel would mean rebelling against all of the gunk and junk that keeps peeps down?

Thanks Gina for sharing your heart!

LOL! I felt your animation on this post! I’m going to play hookie today and just make sure to laugh. :) The business will still be there. But if I don’t take a break, I might not be! :)
    Ann recently posted..Hello world!My Profile

    • Hi Ann,

YES! Taking a break makes it better!

I’ve worked with many business owners and many companies, and from sole proprietor to CEO I have seen first hand that those who are workaholics and mega “time managers” do not experience the richness of life that the others do, and this includes financial wealth as well in many, many situations.

You have to have that space to be successful both in quality of living and in financial prosperity!

      Thanks for your thoughts!
